Vidal Vows To Return Stronger

Arturo Vidal will miss the rest of Bayern Munich's season after undergoing knee surgery, the German champions confirmed on Tuesday.

The Chilean suffered a setback on Sunday in his first training session since he picked up an injury against Sevilla earlier this month.

Bayern had already ruled him out of Tuesday's DFB Pokal semifinal against Bayer Leverkusen, but he will now miss the Champions League run-in as well.

"The loose body that had been diagnosed beforehand was removed," the Bundesliga club said on their website. "The attachment of the rear lateral meniscus which was damaged by the loose body was repaired. The season is over for Arturo Vidal."

Vidal has thanked his fans for their support and has vowed to come back stronger from a knee injury.

He said on Twitter: "These sad times are less sad thanks to the thousands of messages of support that I have received from all of you. I'm not going to let up, I never give up.

A big hug to all the beautiful people that think about me and support me at every step."

Bayern, who have already won the Bundesliga, begin their Champions League semifinal tie against Real Madrid next week.
