The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday called on Nigerians not to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and other Nigerian leaders who preach terror.
Atiku, who condemned Buhari’s remarks at the weekend in Zamfara State that the people should eat well so as to be strong enough for trouble, said he was ready for the poll.
The former vice-president, who spoke at the PDP’s presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, called for peace in the country.
Addressing a large crowd of party supporters at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Atiku said victory for him and his party would guarantee “a restructured Nigeria”.
He promised not to interfere with the functions of the legislature and judiciary because he believed in the separation of powers.
He said, “When the President visited Zamfara, he said, let the people pray for rainfall, let the people pray for food so that they can eat well and make trouble. Is that what a President is supposed to say?
“Buhari was preaching violence and this is not the first time he has done so.
“We are not going to allow any person to make us fight; we want peace, development, prosperity and jobs in this country. Nigerians are going to vote a bad government out with their PVCs.
“If you elect me, I will restructure this country; if you vote for the PDP, we will complete the Onne seaport as well as the East-West road because it was the PDP government that initiated these projects, but the APC government has abandoned them.”
Atiku Also commended the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, for the development of the state.
He said, “Wike is courageous and fearless; I want to commend him for his work. He has done so much in terms of infrastructure. We can now go to the places we used to go on boats by road; he deserves to be re-elected.”
