Creative Industry Group, comprising of recording artistes, record labels, comedians, film producers, music producers and cinematographers, have declared support for the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje.
Speaking on the group’s decision to support Atiku, veteran dancehall musician and Chairman of the group, Felix Duke Osagie, said the PDP’s presidential candidate provided the best strategies and solutions to the numerous challenges facing the creative sector, through the assessment of the policy documents published by some of the presidential aspirants for the elections.
Felix noted that Atiku had assured that his policy objectives will focus on demonstrating the potential of the entertainment and creative industry, including the promotion of both Nollywood and Kannywood movie industries.
On why entertainers must support Atiku, seasoned filmmaker, Zeb Ejiro, who is also the vice-chairman, advisory committee, said the current administration neglected the creative industry, forgetting that the industry equally plays a large role in growing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country.
He said with the coming of the PDP candidates at both the presidential and gubernatorial levels, the creative industry would take its stands in terms of legal and technical infrastructures that would create an enabling environment for practitioners in the industry to thrive.
