The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) yesterday asked the Abuja Division of Federal High Court to declare President Muhammadu Buhari medically unfit for the office of President.Briefing journalists in Abuja, its spokesman, Ikenga Ugochinyere, cited several instances where Buhari demonstrated that he was not medically sound, arguing that to save Nigeria from imminent disaster, the court should immediately make a declaration to that effect.
It also sought an order directing Buhari to make public the result of his medical examinations, alleging that the Department of State Services (DSS) was plotting to arrest and eliminate him.He also cited “Buhari’s multiple gaffes at APC Presidential campaign rallies in Kogi, Delta, Cross River and Imo states to buttress his argument that the President was medically unfit to continue to rule the country.
“We have come to the conclusion that re-electing Buhari will only empower members of the cabal that his wife admitted has hijacked his Presidency to rule the country for another four years,” he stated. But in a swift reaction, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) faulted CUPP over its claim that President Buhari lacks the physical and psychological disposition to be entrusted with the country’s governance for another four years.
Its National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onillu, told newsmen in Abuja that it was not surprising that such position was coming from CUPP, which he said, was working with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).Citing its nationwide campaign being led by President Buhari, the APC said CUPP’s position was indicative of PDP’s impending defeat at the polls.
However, the Southwest chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) yesterday declared their support for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun. Their endorsement was announced when Abiodun visited Sabo Market in Abeokuta for his ward-to-ward campaign tour of Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state.
