In 2014, Dr. Chris Okafor, was accused of beating up his estranged wife, Bessem Okafor, at their home in Magodo, Lagos. According to Punch, Bessem who left her home in 2012 claimed she was beaten during her visit to her four children who were in the custody of their father.

Okafor seriously blasted Bakare while preaching in church.
