The Deputy Speaker of the Yobe state House of Assembly, Dr Ibrahim Kurmi, has died.
According to family sources, Kurmi died at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital Damaturu last night Monday February 18th after a long battle with an undisclosed ailment. He was 48 years old.
Born on March 23rd 1971, Kurmi, a trained medical doctor, represented Fika/Gadaka constituency in the state assembly and was first elected deputy speaker in 2011, before his resignation in 2012.
He was re-elected to represent his constituency for the second time in 2015 and was again made the deputy speaker, a position he occupied until his death.
He is survived by two wives and many chiuldren.
