The collation of results at the only remaining local government area in Kano State has commenced after the process was postponed due to disruption.
According to the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Riskuwa Shehu, the electoral body is determined to conclude the process of collation using primary and secondary results from polling units and wards.
Recall that results from 43 out of the 44 local government areas had already been released when the process was stopped after the state deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna and the State Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Sule Garo were involved in an altercation at the collation centre.
With results from Nasarawa local government, the only remaining local government left to declare, Gawuna and Garo were both involved in a heavy exchange forcing security operatives to step in as they allegedly disrupted the collation of results forcing INEC to delay in announcing the final results of the election.
Meanwhile, the pair of Gawuna and Garo who were both arrested after the altercation have both been released according to Kano commissioner of Police, Mohammed Wakil.
