The Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State says the All Progressives Congress is working with the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Husseni Pai to rig the state’s governorship election on Saturday.
In a statement issued in Jos on Monday by the Chairman of its Media and Publicity Committee, Mr Yiljap Abraham, the party alleged that the electoral commissioner and his colleague in Benue State, Nentawe Yilwatda, perfected the plot to rig the election in favour of APC governorship candidate, Simon Lalong at a meeting held at the INEC headquarters in Jos.
According to the party, the INEC REC and his alleged cohort plan to use “vote-buying, box snatching, monetary inducement of INEC staff, and deployment of faulty card readers in the PDP strongholds,” to achieve their plot.
It was reported that the APC Candidate in the state has denied knowledge of the alleged plot, describing the PDP’s allegations as ridiculous and a figment of the party’s imagination.
Though the INEC REC in Plateau is yet to issue any statement to counter the allegations but the INEC REC in Benue State, Nentawe Yilwatda, has distanced himself from it.
He however agreed that he visited the INEC headquarters in Jos but was not involve in any plot to rig any election.
