79% Of 2018 Appropriation Bill Was Implemented - Budget Office Says

The office of Budget and National Planning has said only 79 per cent of the total N9.12 trillion 2018 budget was implemented by the Federal Government for the 2018 fiscal year.

This was contained in a document made available to newsmen by the Special Assistant to the Minister of Budget and National Planning, James Akpandem.

It said N7.24 trillion had been spent as of 31 December, 2018.

The statement noted that debt service and the implementation of non-debt recurrent expenditure, notably payment of workers’ salaries and pensions were on track.

It added that only N1.226 trillion was released for capital projects between June 20, 2018 when the budget was signed and January 11, 2019.

According to the document, spending on capital projects has been prioritized in favour of critical ongoing infrastructural projects in the power, roads, and rail and agriculture sectors.
