Buhari, assured Nigerians he will provide adequate security, to ensure that the general election is free and fair, credible and devoid of violence across the country.
Buhari said this during re-election campaign in Markudi, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and, also, promised to remain consistent in providing good governance for the country.
While addressing party supporters at the Aper Aku stadium, the president, who spoke for about four and a half minutes, recalled that when he came to seek their votes in 2014, he promised to address three major areas and maintained that his administration has delivered on those promises by tackling all the key areas he promised to address.
“You will recall that when I came to canvass for your votes in 2014, l promised three things, which were; to improve economy, security and fight corruption. I have been able to stop importation of foreign foods.
“Although fighting corruption has remained a major challenge of this government, I will not change but be consistent and steadfast in fighting corruption and all recovered looted funds will be used to improve infrastructures, build roads, construct rail lines and improve power.
“We have been able to rescue all local government areas in the North East states from the hands of Boko Haram,” Buhari said.
In his remarks, APC leader in the state, Senator George Akume, commended the president for managing the economy very well and assured that the Benue people love him and would still cast their votes for him.
